Seward Meridian

The Seward Principal Meridian was established in 1911 to survey the southwestern portion of Alaska. The Initial Point for the Seward principal meridian and base line sits in 69 23'29.654"N latitude, 152 00'04.551"W longitude. From here the meridian runs north to the southern boundary of the Fairbanks Meridian survey, and south where it runs into the Pactific Ocean. The Seward principal base line runs predominantly to the west of the meridian until it intersects the Alaska coast on the Bering Sea. The Seward Meridian territory encompasses all or part of the following Alaska Boroughs and/or census areas: Matanuska-Susitna, Bethel, Kusilvak, Yukon-Koyukuk, Dillingham, Kenai Peninsula, Bristol Bay, Chugach, Kodiak Island, Aleutians East, and Aleutians West.
